Yvonne Ireland a painter, a printmaker exploring the poetic language of colour throughout her abstract compositions.
The creation of these works emerges through varied processes that take the artist from the reality of life into the emotional sensations behind. Layers of action occur on the various surfaces at different scales intensifying the abstracted language of gesture, colour and surface. Her understanding and interpretations of the works growing in a similar way to our recognition and reflections upon our life.
Here the immersive process may be mimicked by the viewer, who with no clear narrative to read can instead explore connections to their own senses and emotions.
The artist says that “it’s possible for joy and enthusiasm to emerge from even the darkest of subject matter, I am inevitably seeking to create balance.”
